Situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Its winemaking tradition dates back to the late 17th century when the French Huguenot settlers came to the Cape to develop the fledging wine industry started in 1655 by the first commandor fo the new colony, Jan van Riebeeck. Among the new comers was Jacques de Villiers, a winemaker from Niort in France. In 1874 his great-grandson Paul bought a portion of the original Landskroon farm which has been granted to a Free Burger by Governor Simon van der Stel in 1692.The expansion continued until today Landskroon comprises more than 600 hectares - with vineyards covering nearly 300 hectares. The Estate is managed as a private family operation, owned by brothers Paul and Hugo de Villiers. Paul de Villiers Jr, current cellarmaster, is a member of the ninth generation carrying on this proud tradition. Eighty percent of the vineyards at Landskroon consist of the red cultivars Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Shiraz Pinot Noir and Pinotage. Port varieties Tinta Barocca, Rinta Roriz, Souzao and Touriga Nacional constitutes approximately 10% of the production while the remainder of the farm is devoted to white wine cultivars, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Morio Muscat.

	Landskroon *Chardonnay (Unwooded)* Current Vintage: 2001 Description: The crisp fruit adds liveliness to this wine. Generous tropical flavours tapering to fresh figgy conclusion and a dry finish.
	*Landskroon Blanc de Noir (Off-dry)* Current Vintage: 2001 Description: Pale coral colour. Softly fruity with a crisp finish. Medium bodied, off-dry. To be enjoyed on its own or as a food partner to salads, fish and light meat dishes. Awards won: Wine-of-the-Month 2001: Best Blanc de Noir out of 12
	*Landskroon Chenin Blanc (Off-dry)* Current Vintage: 2001 Description: Medium bodied. Lemon, peach tones. Invariably charming, crisp and refreshing. Suitable for everyday enjoyment and a good partner to smoked / braised fish dishes, onion snacks.
	*Landskroon Cinsaut / Shiraz* Current Vintage: 2001 Description: Creamy toffee and red fruit nose. Well-made, juicy ripe wine which is nicely attractive. Very good fruit and acidity with good tannins. Awards won: 3� stars John Platter 2002
	*Landskroon Cinsaut* Current Vintage: 2001 Description: Bright red colour. Berry, smoky tones. Light, easy drinking, suitable with cold meats and light meals. Awards won: Wine-of-the-Month 2001: Best Value Unusual Red out of 21
	*Landskroon Pinotage* Current Vintage: 2000 Description: Ripe, sweet raspberry, cherry fruit and vanilla spiciness. Perfectly balanced acid and tannin show the raspberry, mulberry fruit off at its most appealing. French oak finish. Vibrant and fresh, suitable for a broad spectrum of foods.
	*Landskroon Cabernet Franc / Merlot* Current Vintage: 2000 Description: Smooth plum, green pepper fragrant tobacco sniffs. Dry finish. A medium bodied wine recommended as a good food partner to roasts and venison.
	*Landskroon Shiraz* Current Vintage: 2000 Description: Characteristic smoky flavour and rich fruitiness with bright ruby colour. Spicy cherry aromas with lively raspberry flavours, complemented by good, but subdued oakiness. Lengthy finish. Awards won: Veritas Silver 2001, **** John Platter 2002
	*Landskroon Merlot* Current Vintage: 2000 Description: Brilliant ruby colour. Full bodied with ripe plum, cherry fruit, delicately structured and early drinkable. To be enjoyed by itself or with a variety of roasts and other meat dishes.
	*Landskroon Cabernet Sauvignon* Current Vintage: 1999 Description: Bright ruby colour, complex earthy nose with layers of fruit flavours like dark ripe cherry. Different French cooperage's add vanilla flavours, entwined with hints of mint and balsam. Complex and balanced, good potential for bottle maturation. Awards won: Veritas Silver 2001. 3�* Best Value Awards 2001 Wine Magazine. 4�* John Platter 2002.
	*Landskroon Port* Current Vintage: 1996 Description: It shows great dept of colour, densely packed with fruit, full and fat on the mid-palate with good tannin and a dry finish. On the taste - lots of chocolate, concentrated grape and raspberry flavours.
