This
historical vineyard dates back to 1693 and is situated
on the Bottelary Hills overlooking the Indian and Altantic
oceans. Ideal climatic conditions, fertile soil and low
yields ensure the production of some of South Africa's
finest red wines.
Saxenburg continues to receive widespread acclaim for
its consistent high quality wines and to date commands
one of the highest prices for a single red wine in both
local and international markets.
Three
wines have thus far received 5- star ratings in the South
African John Platter Wine Guide. Saxenburg's premium range
comprise 25 000 cases which include: sauvignon blanc,
chardonnay, pinotage, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz
and since 2001 a reserve shiraz, Saxenburg Shiraz Select.
