Diemersfontein
is a 180 ha property situated in the picturesque Wellington
Valley. The farm is 3rd generation owned by David and
Sue Sonnenberg and has been in the family since 1942.
Diemersfontein is a specialist red wine farm and has made
its maiden vintage in 2001. This vintage was of particular
importance as it's Pinotage was in the prestigious ABSA
Top 10.
It
was further complemented with listings in a prominent
UK multiple grocer and the appointment of one of the oldest
and more established wine importers in England. To top
it all the production for 2002 has increased almost 5
times from
5
500 x 6 cases to 26 500 x 6 of which more than 95%
will be red wines.
In 2002 an additional 11.5 ha of vines are planted which
will include prominent new varietals such as Petit Verdot,
Mouvedre, Malbec, Temprenillo, Cabernet Franc, Viognier
and Roobernet.
The aim of the property is to produce value for money
and to work towards establishing itself as a red wine
farm par excellance.
