Resently winemaker, Lizelle Gerber has received the S.A.A. white wine trophy for her Chardonnay "Reserve" 1999, double gold Michelangelo Award & ABSA Top Ten for Pinotage 1999, as well as Veritas Gold & five stars in John Platter for her famous above royalty - Noble Late Harvest 1999 & 2000. 40% of production is exported at present, mainly to Europe. The emphasis will remain on Europe but the USA and other markets will receive more attention in the future. An all-woman team runs this estate and they are set. The terrior is primed and Avontuur's new day is dawning.
